Four state chapters of the African Action Congress have expelled their respective gubernatorial candidates.

The gubernatorial candidates were expelled for “serious violation of the party constitution.”

According to documents obtained by the punch on Tuesday, the people affected included Iboro Otu – Akwa Ibom; Ray Kene-Enugu; Ahmed Aliyu – Kwara and Dr. David Charima from the party’s Taraba state chapter.

A letter addressed to one of the candidates, Otu from Akwa Ibom, signed by the state president, Utip Etiebet, read: “Season’s greetings from the leaders and members of the AAC, Akwa Ibom state chapter.

“Remember that the state leadership of the party in a letter dated December 28, 2022 had issued him a query that bordered on ‘serious violation of the constitution, the established rules and the AAC directives’ and gave him 48 hours to explain. why disciplinary action should not be taken against you in accordance with Section 81, Subsection 4. That time has since passed without a word from you.

“That he deliberately refused to respond to the party’s inquiry is not only unfortunate but also reinforces our belief of his disrespect for the party constitution and its organs. And this naked act of insubordination is not only contrary to Section 10 (a), (b) and (c) of the party constitution, but is punishable under Section 80, Subsection 2 (a), (b), (c). ) (d) and (e).

“Accordingly, the State Executive Committee, based on Section 81, Subsection 3 and pursuant to Section 81, Subsection 2(a), hereby expels you from the party and, by this letter, makes you a member of the AAC. . This expulsion takes immediate effect.

“Therefore, you are advised to seize further transactions on behalf of the party, as the CAA will not be liable for any breaches or violations.”

Another letter signed by Kwara party chairman Usman Jamiu and addressed to Aliyu read: “After the party consultation dated December 28, 2022 and the request to explain within 48 hours why no take disciplinary action against you in accordance with Section 81, Subsection 4. Since then, the response window has closed without so much as a word from you.

“That he deliberately refused to respond to the inquiry is not only unfortunate, but also speaks to his flagrant disregard and disrespect for the party constitution and its organs. And this act of insubordination is not only contrary to Section 10 (a), (b) and (c) of the party constitution, it is punishable under Section 80, Subsection 2 (a), (b), (c) (d) and (e).

“Accordingly, the State Executive Committee, based on the Power vested in it by Section 81, Subsection 3 and in accordance with Section 81, Subsection 2(a) of the party constitution, hereby expels him from the Party with immediate character. effect. “Therefore, you are advised to seize further transactions on behalf of the Party, as the CAA will not be liable for any breaches or violations.”
