Nigerian Railway Cooperation managing director Fidet Ohkiria revealed on Tuesday that the attacks on the Nigerian railway system were deliberate attacks.

According to him, security cannot be 100 percent guaranteed, adding that even the United States of America still has security challenges.

The NRC chief said this when he appeared on Sunrise Daily on Channels TV monitored by our correspondent in Abuja.

He said the Edo State Police Commissioner and his men are still searching for the bandits and are also doing their best to secure the release of the other victims, adding that the remaining victims are suspected to be divided into groups.

“From what they say, I think they divided the people in captivity into groups. That’s the information I have.”

Asked if there’s a chance another set will be rescued in the next 24 hours, he said: “Hopefully so, the intensity that security and the community have put into making sure they don’t embarrass us. I think something good will happen very soon because the people have been there since Saturday and they are still there.”

Speaking about the security measures the government said it put in place to ensure safety on the rail system and what went wrong this time, Okhiria said: “Nothing went wrong, as I said, you plan and you also have people who are trying to sabotage your thoughts.

“At this point we have not reached the top of that security architecture that we want in our stations, although it is out of the ordinary; we don’t have that in rail operations.

“We have been in contact with the security agents, the Police Inspector General, the Chief of the Defense Staff, the Army Chief of Staff and the Air Chief of Staff to propose the security committee that the Minister of Transport, Mu’azu Sambo, installed which is done. of military personnel and to ensure that the right people are deployed at our train station and on the train.

“I don’t think there is a perfect security situation, even in the United States, they still address security issues. We just pray that Nigerians change their minds because that is the best way we can live in peace and the sooner we stop these evil people the better for everyone.”

He further said that the security measures have not been limited to the Abuja-Kaduna or Lagos-Ibadan railway stations, adding that when talking about security it refers to the overall security of the rail system.

Asked if the NRC said that the installed security is general security for the railway system why the Edo train station was attacked, he said, “I don’t want to get into a debate, it has happened, we must look ahead and see how can”. make sure it doesn’t happen again, it doesn’t mean there isn’t a 100 percent rail system that can’t be sabotaged.”
