Bayelsa state governor Douye Diri has vowed to remove any traditional chiefs who allow politicians to harass voters ahead of the next general election.

During the launch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the Bayelsa Central senatorial district on Monday in Yenagoa, the state capital, Diri made the statement.

The government, he claimed, will find any community that commits such an act.

The state governor asked residents to vote for all PDP candidates to give the party the best chance of reversing the nation’s economic woes.

He gave the population his word that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, had what it took to change the nation.

“As for the traditional rulers, anyone who allows politicians to deprive other people of the exercise of their civic rights will be dealt with.

“I urge you to give your mandate to the PPD to reap more democracy dividends,” he said.

Also speaking, PDP State Chairman Mr. Solomon Agwanana said that the strength of the PDP is in the hands of all Bayelans who support Governor Diri’s achievements.

He urged party supporters not to give opposition parties a chance to win elections in the state.
