Plateau State Police Command officers arrested a suspected kidnapper attempting to collect the ransom of N3m from the victim’s father.

State Police Commissioner Bartholomew Onyeka revealed this on Friday while briefing reporters on the commando’s “progress” at the state headquarters in Jos

Onyeka said that on December 21, 2022, around 01:40 a.m., while acting on impeccable information from a reliable informant, a 22-year-old Ashiru Ibrahim ‘m’ from Angwan Rogo, Jos, suspected of having kidnapped an Abubakar four years old. Nazifi from Zam Zam, Abuja Mata Rikkos, Jos on 19th December 2022, was arrested by police officers attached to commando ‘A’ Division in Leichester Hotel area while collecting ransom N3m from victim’s parents.

It stated: “After interrogation, the suspect made a helpful revelation that led to the rescue of the victim from the kidnappers’ den unharmed. Further investigation led to the arrest of his accomplice, one Bashir Saleh ‘m’ of Rikkos, Jos, who initiated the kidnapping. The case is still under investigation.”

The commissioner also said that eight other kidnappers were detained in a separate operation carried out by his men in the state’s Quaapan LGA after they kidnapped two women.

He stated: “On 09/24/2022, at approximately 09:30 a.m., a whistleblower reported a kidnapping case to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command that unidentified armed men invaded his brother’s compound in Gidan Dabat village. , Qua’anpan LGA, Jos, on 09/22/2022 around 10:00 p.m. and kidnapped his wife, Talatu Dayil Ayuba and Dangnan Danladi, both women, with destination unknown until the ransom of N2m was paid to their captors before they were released.

“Upon receiving the report, Anti-Kidnapping operatives intervened and detained the following suspects in connection with the kidnapping; (1) Naandem Dennis, 30 years old, (2) Bitrus Gideon Daboki, 42 years old, (3) Zakka Tashak, 48 years old, (4) Tashak Peter, 52 years old, (5) Aaron Dowang, 70 years old, (6) Chinkinan Aaron, 47 years old, (7) Titus Dayil, 25 years old and (8) James Adamu, 53 years old, both men from Gidan Dabat village of Qua’anpan LGA, Jos. Upon questioning, the suspects confessed to conspiring, committing the crime and collecting N2m as a ransom. The suspects will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is complete.”

The commissioner warned criminals to desist from their activities, especially during the festive period, and said he had instructed his men to provide waterproof security before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations at the condition.
