Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has tasked the nation’s leaders to ensure that the families of the fallen heroes are cared for, while those who are alive should be well appreciated and rewarded so that their sacrifices are not be in vain

He spoke yesterday at the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration where he assured that his government will continue to do everything possible to reward their sacrifices.

Bello said: “Today we are commemorating the memories of our fallen heroes, the Nigerian Armed Forces and all the men in uniform who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in peace and harmony.”

“I thank the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, State Securities Department, Civil Defense Corps and other men in uniform for their sacrifices and services throughout the country and specifically in Kogi State,” he added.

The governor used the occasion to warn politicians not to mix politics with the security of lives and livelihoods even though the nation was in its political season.

He noted that the security formations in the state have continued to do their best to expel criminals from society and reiterated that criminals have no place under his administration in Kogi State, so his government would continue to detain and confront them. all the wrath of the Law.

He promised that his government would continue to pay close attention to the safety and well-being of citizens and passers-by.

Governor Bello emphasized that no individual, regardless of position, should take the law into their own hands and hide under the guise of politics to import criminals and terrorists into the state, adding that anyone caught will be dealt with decisively.

The governor, while thanking the citizens, charged them to go about their lawful business and stressed that they must conduct themselves in an appropriate manner even while campaigning for their respective candidates without engaging in any criminal activity.

Addressing the press, state security adviser Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) noted that the importance of the annual event is largely reflected in the show of unity among security agencies in Kogi State. .

Among the highlights of the event was the inspection of the honor guard assembled by Command Army Records, the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Legion. Prayers were offered for the souls of the deceased and their families, wreaths were laid in honor and remembrance of many who have paid the ultimate price in the service of their nation.
