Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has said that among all the presidential candidates for the 2023 election, All Progressives Congress standard-bearer Bola Tinubu is the preferred choice.

“Leadership is about justice for people, even for animals. Lagos is a mini Nigeria. Both Christians and Muslims and pagans are in Lagos. At one point, you cannot drive in Lagos with your car windows fully open because of thieves. Hardly a day went by without seeing a dead body in the dumps.

“But when Tinubu became governor for eight years, brought sanity to Lagos. There is no basis in expressing the fear that Tinubu will Islamize Nigeria. Is not true. Buhari Islamized Nigeria after seven years in office? Obasanjo Christianized Nigeria after eight years in office? Did Jonathan make Nigeria a Christian country after six years in office?” she questioned.

“I can tell you that if you put all the presidential candidates before a blind man, he will choose Tinubu,” Masari said.

For his part, the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, said the country’s main problem “is bitter politics.”

He noted, however, that when young women come together in common cause without “bitterness,” then there will be hope for the nation.

“We have to choose a proven and trusted candidate. This is Ahmed Tinubu. He was governor for eight years. He chose a successor who was liked by the people.

“History will repeat itself. During the military rule under General Ibrahim Babangida’s transition to civilian rule, there was an election between MKO Abiola and Alhaji Bashir Tofa of SDP and NRC. Abiola’s running mate was a Muslim.

“It was a Muslim Muslim ticket who won the elections. Tofa who chose a Christian running mate lost the election. Then Tinubu will win the elections.”

Also speaking, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai said the reasons why APC governors from the north decided to support a presidential candidate from the south were because of the spirit of unity, fairness and justice in the country.

“In the spirit of unity, equity and justice in the country, after the term of President Buhari, it is only fair that the presidency goes to the South.

“And we met in the Katsina lodge before Governor Aminu Bello Masari who said that among all the presidential candidates, we should go for Ahmed Tinubu for his career while he was governor of Lagos,” he added.

The trio spoke Tuesday at a town hall meeting with a group of northern Christians.

Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed her satisfaction with the Christian group, noting that her husband would not let them down if he voted for power.

He described the APC presidential hopeful as a workaholic and a generous man, “full of intelligence”.
