The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast dust haze from Thursday to Saturday across the country.

The NiMet weather forecast released on Wednesday in Abuja predicted a moderate dust haze on Thursday with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km expected in parts of the northern region.

It forecast the prospect of a light dust haze over Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba during the forecast period.

“Moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranges of 2 km to 5 km is anticipated over north-central and southern inland cities throughout the forecast period.

“A hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected over coastal cities during the forecast period.

“Early morning mist or fog is also expected over coastal cities,” it said.

According to NiMet, a light dust haze is expected over the northern region on Friday throughout the forecast period.

Moderate dust haze was anticipated over north-central and southern inland cities during the forecast period.

The agency forecast a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds over coastal cities throughout the forecast period.

It predicted early morning mist or mist over coastal cities.

“By Saturday, a light dust haze is expected over north-central and southern inland cities throughout the forecast period.

“A hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is anticipated over coastal cities during the forecast period.

“Early morning mist or fog is also expected over coastal cities with potential impact,” it said.

NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions due to the dust particles currently suspended above the atmosphere.

He advised people with respiratory problems to protect themselves as the current dusty weather is dangerous for their health.

“Cold temperatures should be expected during the night, so warm clothes are recommended for the little ones.

“All airline operators are advised to take advantage of NiMet’s regular weather reports for effective planning of their operations,” he said.
