The clinic in association with Rock Tennis Foundation will be held at Green Courts, Abeokuta Sports Club, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State between January 3-7.

In a statement from the Association’s media officer, Olusegun Olukoga obtained by pulse Sports Nigeria, the participants come from thirty-six states of the federation, including the FCT.

The championship will have national open tournaments under 16 and closed under 12, among others. There will also be an open clinic and Davis Cup-style doubles for young players between the ages of 6 and 12.

Head tennis coach Kehinde Ijaola said the association is passionately committed to developing talented young professional tennis players in the state.

He added that one of the tennis players from Ogun State will travel to the US this month on a scholarship and play college tennis at the university.

He said: “The foundation promotes the grassroots tennis development program from time to time, combined with the tournament. Unlike last year, we did the southwest edition, but this year it will be national under 16s; we want to make sure that the kids that we have been training for years are exposed to national and international competitions. That is why we want to see their skill involving other tennis players from other parts of the country. Therefore, it is a clinic for beginners and existing players to participate in the tournament”.
