The People’s Democratic Party has praised the people of Oyo State for their courage in supporting the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other party candidates ahead of the 2023 general election.
The PDP also welcomed the persistence of its members and supporters in the state to back Atiku at the opening of the PDP gubernatorial campaign on Thursday, defying attempts to dictate their electoral preference.
The PPD disclosed this on Friday in a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
Ologunagba said: “The overwhelming chant of ‘Atiku! Atiku!” by the resistant crowd in rejecting a request to follow the dictates of some people in the presidential election summarily conveyed, in one voice, its non-negotiable resolution to vote for Atiku Abubakar as the next president of our country.
“The people of Oyo State, as independent minded, have once again demonstrated their nickname as leaders in Nigerian politics by establishing that power rests with the will of the people and not with the endorsement or dictation of any one person or group of people. people.
“Unambiguously, the expression of the people of Oyo State at the opening ceremony strongly indicates and reaffirms the support of the geopolitical area of the southwest for Atiku Abubakar and all our candidates in the southwest and across the country.”
