Al Nassr’s new star signing Cristiano Ronaldo could face World Cup winner Lionel Messi in a friendly match between Paris Saint-Germain and the Saudi club on January 19 in Riyadh.

Al Nassr’s coach Rudi Garcia has revealed that Ronaldo’s debut in Saudi Arabia would be as part of an exhibition team in a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain, which could pit him against Messi.

The Portuguese star had been serving a two-match ban by the FA for throwing a phone out of a fan’s hand after Manchester United’s defeat by Everton in April 2022.

He has delayed Ronaldo’s long-awaited debut, which is now expected to be in an exhibition game with PSG in Riyadh on January 19.

Although, Garcia expressed sadness about the friendlies, which will be a mix of Al Nassr and Al Hilal players, due to the domestic matches, saying they had another home game to play three days after the set friendlies.

Garcia said: “It will not be in the Al Nassr jersey. It will be a mix between Al Hilal and Al Nassr.

“As the coach of Al Nassr, I cannot be happy with this game. For development, seeing PSG, seeing the great Parisian players, is actually a good thing. But we have a championship game three days later.

“In terms of programming, it could have been better thought out. But it’s not a big deal… We’re in the lead, we’re happy. It’s a tough championship to win, but we intend to do it.”

Both Ronaldo and Messi have achieved professional successes that have made it difficult for fans to decide who is better than the other.

Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or award five times, while Messi has won the coveted award seven times, the most for any player.
